Ukranian Artists Finds Her Paint Brush

March 31st, 2010 Comments Off

Lenora’s Water Colors in England UK seem to be a bit of a secret on the Internet, because as expected.. the term “Water colors” or “Water Colours Prints” entered into Google gives a huge 34 million search results.

The lovely Lenora (known as Ella to her friends) is a dog walking friend of my girlfriend – who has been sharing their adventures with me after being out across the countryside surrounding the village where we live. Ukranian born and married to a fine Englishman, I regularly get told of the confusions in accents and words and giggles that they get up to whilst chatting away and sharing their lives with each other during their walking sessions.

I have been working hard on the development of a new web presence for Skirmish Paintball Games that has been taxing and time consuming to say the least, Where in comes my girlfriend and tells me about Ella – a water color painter friend of hers who has been struggling to promote her paintings website. Followed by asking me to pull up the website Lenoraswatercolors.com to see the little dog called ‘Dolly’ painted by Ella and the very Yorkshire Terrier which accompanies our Parsons Terrier on their zany adventures along the tracks, farmers fields and around the lake.

Having seen the cute little ‘Dolly’ we spent 10 minutes viewing other fine paintings by Ella of the countryside, specifically views from The Lake District – one of her favourite places in England. Other great paintings were of a Tiger, Elephants, a beautiful Stag, some lovely architecture, a lighthouse, forests and various cats !!! Altogther a great collection showing the skills our friend Ella has in painting water colors, and the prints are certainly worthy of their small asking price. Maybe I will commission her to paint a few originals once my house conversion is complete !

I’m also thinking that maybe my business partner in Holiday rentals franchises might find Ellas skills suitable for mediteranean sea scapes and the lovely buildings scattered everywhere. Holiday to Mijas – here we come !

San Francisco Bay Area High Schools offer International Recognition with AP Courses

Private High Schools can offer International Recognition with AP Courses

Outside the U.S., universities in more than 60 countries recognize AP in their admissions processes. Because of this, students who are considering taking extra courses at a community college may want to think twice about taking an AP course at their high school or a school that offers AP. Not all community college courses will be accepted for transfer credit, and may end up being a waste of time and effort. In northern California, some Silicon Valley Private Schools are able to provide these AP classes.

Individual colleges and universities, not the College Board or the AP Program, set criteria for granting admission to their respective programs. AP Exam performance is typically considered within the applicant’s complete academic transcript. Because these courses are graded on a 5 point scale, top students can obtain a GPA of over 4.0. GPA’s of 4.2 or more are often the norm for admission to the best colleges. If your child can’t get an AP course at your local public school, try contacting a private high school. Cambrian International Academy is only one of the Bay Area private schools providing AP classes on a full time or class-by-class basis. Some will even offer the classes in the evening or on a weekend.

Because admission policies vary from school to school, interested students should contact the institution directly for further information regarding application procedures and policies. Appropriate contact information and URLs are provided on the College Board website.

Boys Bedroom Bedding Tips

March 30th, 2010 Comments Off

Its fun time now that you are set to design your boy’s bedroom. Boys just love to get a paint brush in their hands and join in the excitement of painting what ever mom and pop point him to.  Make your boy’s bedroom furniture functional as well as special by adding storage and shelving units e.g. toy box for his toys, shelving units and a book case. Peg rails come in very handy, to hang his caps and jackets up. When all your boy’s cars, puzzles, blocks and toys can have a specific place to be packed away, your boys bedroom will become a pleasure for him to play in and for you to keep organized.

Design your boy’s room with a theme in mind that is in his interest.  Boys enjoy a great looking bedroom that focuses on themes such as Cars, Boats, Superhero’s, Cartoon’s, Rock Stars, Race Cars, Space, Planes, Bikes or even if the theme is a colorful stripe, it should be something that makes him happy.  There are lots of different designs of wooden toy boxes that can be used to store everything he collects as he plays out his dreams or to store all his boys toys.

As well as furniture for boys,  murals on wallpaper can be found online and there are some that cover an entire wall with beautiful renditions of undersea animals or sports themed real life wall decals such as Sudden Shadows and Fatheads featuring  your son’s favorite sports figures.

Stores like The Boys Depot have beautiful boy’s bedroom decor and linen that will fit perfectly with your furniture for boys.   Their bedroom furniture comes in Wood, Navy, White, Ivory, Stone as well as rustic. These are wonderful colors to mix and match.  If the walls are neutral, stone furniture is a must. If your boy’s bedroom walls are a darker color like navy or blue then white or ivory bedroom furniture will work well.

Now its time to consider your little boys coordingating bedding.  The Boys Depot boy bedding is a collection of designer sets that are affordable, fresh and elegant while remaining well-suited for a boy.  They have boy bedding that is custom made as well from twin size bedding up through king size and is sure to last the wear and tear of even the most mischievous little boy!  They have all kinds of bedding themes to match your theme room as from such designers as Doodlefish, Alli Taylor, Sleeping Partners, Trend-Lab, Caden Lane, Baby Chic, Brandee Danielle, California Kids, Whistle & Wink, Glenna Jean, Jo Jo Designs among others!

Now, don’t forget to bring every last detail together and accessorize with some wonderful boys lighting, rugs, book-ends, switch plate and outlet covers picture frames, wall letters, clocks or even a personalized growth chart!   The Boys Depot is a great place to shop for all your boys décor & accessories as well!

The Advantages of Having An IVA

    March 29th, 2010 Comments Off

    Does this sound familiar?

You’re overwhelmed by all your debts, and you can see no other way out but to file for bankruptcy. You must now say goodbye to all your possessions and hope that it will be enough to pay off all your debts. Your holdings include the family home, which you are now likely to lose. Are you in this situation right at this moment?

Before you fall on the bankruptcy bandwagon, you must analyze your other options first. What you may not know is that you can possibly be a prime candidate for other programs aimed at debt cases. To find out, you can speak with someone who is qualified to give you sound debt help. You can select either a charity organization or a paid debt help service for advice.

Individual Voluntary Arrangements, or more commonly referred to as an IVA, are a superb alternative to filing for bankruptcy. This action is put forward on your account by your agent, such as an Insolvency Practitioner (IP). Your proposal must contain a workable payment scheme for your creditors after taking some points into consideration, such as your monthly income, living expenses, and other pertinent facts, which most of your creditors must ratify in order for the IVA to push through. Any creditor may include or add their own conditions to the tender before it is voted upon. Once all your creditors accept the conditions, you must keep to them during the payment period.

Here are some good points about IVAs that you should consider:

Similar to bankruptcy protection, applying for an IVA will keep banks from suing you for payment without the court’s approval. But please take note that this only covers the creditors you listed down in your IVA petition, so be meticulous when making that list.

If you file for bankruptcy, everything you own will be taken into consideration and sold, and the sale amount will go towards your debts. For IVAs, your assets will be left alone and you can keep your home.

Many people are reluctant to file for bankruptcy because of the perceived disgrace of doing so, as a list of filers is announced on a national newspaper, whereas IVA filers are only listed on the Personal Insolvency Register. While the fact that you have filed for an IVA is not kept from the public, there is a feeling of being less subject to gossip.

Generally, it would reflect better on you if you show that you are willing to pay back what you owe. However, an IVA doesn’t assure that your credit scores won’t go down, and while it will reflect on your financial records, in most cases you can still apply for credit. Usually, the payment terms last anywhere from three to five years, and it will be the given amount set in the IVA. This will be paid monthly to the banks as overseen by your nominated debt advisor.

Brazil’s gold mining towns of Minas Gerais and the peak of Portuguese Baroque epoch on the new continent

    March 29th, 2010 Comments Off

After the Portuguese established foothold on the coast of Brazil they naturally started to look into the interior. A group of adventurous explores, a wild bunch of ruthless types namely from Sao Paulo were in quest to enslave as many of the Indios, the indigenous Indian tribes, as they could find. By early 17th century they discovered that the Indians were not lasting investment. Prone to diseases of the white settlers Indians died in droves and they were not also the hardest of workers.

As slave trade was well under way from Africa and ship after ship of black slaves arrived at the shore of Brazil, the Bandeirantes turned their attention to search for gold, silver and diamonds. By late 17th century Bandeirantes found gold in what became the State of Minas Gerais. And vast deposits were discovered indeed, included diamonds.

Soon five prominent gold mining towns were established in Minas Gerias – Tiredantes, Sao Joao del Rei, Congonhas, Mariana and the jewel of them all, Ouro Preto. Diamantia, quite a distance north and away from the rest, became the diamond capital of not only the New World but rest of the world until diamonds were later found in South Africa.

Do not miss a chance to travel in Brazil away from the beaches of Brazil, as the journey constitutes a unique glimpse of Brazil history. Minas Gerais and the former gold mining towns are filled with scores of Brazil’s landmark structures. While Portuguese left a significant footprint throughout the world and much of their influence evolved into eclectic style, the Portuguese Baroque as represented beyond Europe stands in a category of its own.

By mid-19th century Ouro Preto grew to population of over 100,000. During the height of gold mining boom Ouro Preto witnessed construction of elegant squares and magnificent Baroque churches. Today Ouro Preto retains the crown of possessing the best of Portuguese colonial architecture and as such has been declared UNESCO World Heritage site.

Thousands of slaves were brought to work the mines and to build a road to coast to shuttle the bullion to the old Portugal. But by late 18th century the gold rush of Minas Gerias was over and most of the once thriving gold mining boom towns fell into oblivion. After gold came sugar cane and later coffee, in the last few decades soy beans but the legacy of Portuguese Baroque is still very much in evidence as 18th century was truly the era of prosperity for the Portuguese when shiploads of gold were sailing to Lisbon.
