American Idol Season 9

December 31st, 2009 Comments Off

So, it’s time for another season of American Idol. And it’s love/hate for me this season. Here’s why…

So, I love the show. I love the format…for the most part. But I was never exactly in love with Paula’s performance. Apparently, neither were the show’s producers. So, what do they do? They bring in Kara. For me, she’s the better judge (because she actually gives real, actionable feedback. Paula usually avoided the uncomfortable by focusing on the contestant’s appearance.)

But…as refreshing as Kara is, the 4 judge system has never worked (for those of you who remember Season 2).

When I heard that Paula was leaving the show because the producers lowballed her, I got excited again. Too bad my excitement lasted for about 10 minutes. My heart sunk when I found out that Ellen would be joining the cast at the judges table.

What are they thinking?

Having 3 judges at the table is better, almost magically correct number for two big reasons. 1) It gives each judge more time to comment. And 2) it’s exciting to hear that Randy doesn’t care for the performance, while Paula does. And then it’s up to Simon to split the vote.

My other big beef with Ellen is Ellen. What is she really bringing to the table? Viewers? I don’t think so.

Is Idol really hurting for viewers? No. (And I doubt Ellen can bring in an audience that doesn’t already exist at this point.)

Does the show need comic relief? No. And I think we all remember the Nick/Norman Gentle fiasco last season.

And–above all else–other than singing “just keep swimming” in Finding Nemo, what credentials does Ellen have?

Comprehending The Plans For Debt Reduction Is Very Heads Up

December 30th, 2009 Comments Off

Thankfully for millions of people across the United States of America who find themselves swamped with credit card debt there is hope.  Most debtors do not understand all of the debt relief methods they have available to them, but there are quite a bit.  Knowing the variations between these plans will be crucial to making sure you pick the most ideal plan for your financial struggle.

To begin with many consumers consider is to get a debt consolidation loan.  This appears to be a simple route but could in the long run create more bad than good, if that is you even qualify for the loan to begin with.  The reason I say it may be hard to get a debt consolidation loan is usually the consumer has to put up some type of collateral first, in most cases this will be a house.  Those people that have no collateral must then have perfect credit to get an unsecured loan, and people who are trapped in credit card debt many times don’t have respectable credit.

If someone does manage to obtain a secure loan against your home this can be a bad choice, for the simple reason that you are transforming low risk credit card debt into high risk secured debt against your home.  So if you end up right back in the same position and can’t manage pay towards the loan you chance the risk of losing your home.

Next there is credit counseling, this plan shares many similarities to a debt consolidation loan but without having to obtain a loan.  The upsides of this plan are decreased APR’s and one consolidated monthly payment.  The problem to this program is it does report adversely to your FICO score and if you go delinquent two payments you will get kicked off the plan; then losing the benefits of a reduced interest rate.  In most cases people flunk off of this program because the monthly payments in many cases are not much less than the monthly minimums, with some companies they are even higher.  So folks who can barely manage to make payments at this point may not last the duration of the program.

Debt Settlement is one more system that has seemed to have the most attractive results for struggling consumers throughout this dreaded economic collapse.  With a debt settlement program the debtor will wind up saving just about half of how much they owe on their bills.  So understandably this will drastically cut back on the monthly outlay towards credit card debt, and they will also get out of debt much more rapidly.  The sole real drawback to this procedure is falling delinquent on the accounts which must be done to successfully complete debt settlement, so the credit history will initially suffer.

The bottom line is no matter what option is chosen those who are trapped pining away in credit card debt have to discover a way out as fast as they can.  Credit card debt is horrible for peoples overall financial good standing.  Just thin about all the cash being put out to credit cards being actively invested?  What advantage could that be to your life?  If you remain in credit card debt you may not find out.

Search Engine Submission Compared to Optimization

December 29th, 2009 Comments Off

SEO is a wide expression covering the promoting of web pages through bringing in necessity- driven visitors to a website by putting the webpage link ion the 1st web page of search engines intended for certain words in use by the company’s target segment. It is dissimilar to search engine submission which usually only entails a procedure for allowing a search engine recognize a web page exists on-line.

That can be achieved by making the site code and message search engine suitable.

You can find companies which specialise within back- engineering the activities search engines look for when ranking web sites.

These companies then apply those things to internet sites thus assuring a initial page rating for that web page.

When the internet site achieves 1st page rankings for a particular phrase it then begins attracting feature driven, targeted, likely individuals. Seeing that the people who type in the phrase associated to the website’s merchandise have by now pre- qualified themselves by saying I am in the market for what you’ve got.

These prospective consumers simply need some encouragement to do business with the company.

An example could easier illustrate the operation:

Lets say our business offers imported Italian shoes. And our story is located around Manhattan. We would desire our web site to rank well for the word in the biggest search engine in the world Google.

Therefore we might optimize the internet site for the phrase Italian shoes Manhattan. We include the geographic area since people which purchase this specific kind of product, initially require to test them on. Consequently though they do the exploration on-line, they would in all probability do the particular buying in an off- line outlet.

Viewing the optimization of web sites as opposed to only the submission of sites to search engines, pushes us to consider further in lines of on-line sales instead of simply search engine indexing.

What is in the Atkins Diet?

December 29th, 2009 Comments Off

With all of the diets out there, it’s a wonder which one is the right one for you. Do you have the money to invest in just trying to see if it works? Is it worth the time or even the possible harm that it can put on your body? These are some of the questions that you may want to ask yourself.

When fast paced America discovers that fast food diets will add the weight, it is a wonder why we are all becoming obese. Well who is going to stop it? Unfortunately we have to just take care of our own family now and days.

If we learn to balance our health then it is in the best interest of our family overall. There are many things that we can enjoy but then there is a time to lose the weight that has over taken our bodies. There are so many diets but the Atkins Diet comes to mind.

The History of the Atkins Diet

This diet was formulated by Dr. Robert Atkins in 1998. The main purpose for this diet is the fact that it is a low carbohydrate diet. It was founded in 1989 but not yet released until 1998. Shortly after the death of Dr. Atkins the Atkin’s Nutritionals filed Chapter 11 Bankruptcy. Then in 2005 the company arose to open the new diet trend, called the Atkins Diet.

Why Should We Consider the Atkins Diet?

Atkins knew that the main cause for concern in the US and obesity was the fact that we are consuming too many carbohydrates. Many of these include sugars and flours. Some of the foods are breads, high in fructose syrup and then there is foods that are are rich in oils that are not good for your body either. All oils are not good for you unless it is canola oil or olive oils. Breads consist of the most carbs, especially white bread.

What Does the Atkins Diet Consist of?

You can eat meats and other foods that are high in cholesterol. There may even be some controversy over that but it is part of the Atkins Diet. As long as you are eating foods that are not high in carbohydrates then you are okay. Yes, you are allowed to eat foods such as avocado dip and eggs (with yolks) and that is fine when it comes to the Atkins Diet.

Stay away from sweets and things of that nature. Sugars of all kinds need to be avoided. If you are a coffee drinker, no sugar! You must avoid things like milk, rice, white bread, white potatoes and pastas but you are allowed to eat different fruits and vegetables after the first couple weeks.

Basically you are eating foods that are extremely high in fats and protein. You are able to eat everything from red meats and fish to regular cheeses and even mayonnaise. If you are wanting to cook, it is advised to cook with butter and olive oil if it is fried.

Also it is advised to eat foods that are high in fiber as well. There will be a slack on the diet after the first few weeks. You will be allowed to eat a minimal of carbs as well as fruits and other foods that have natural sugars.

The intentions of the diet is to get your body balanced and to use it’s natural carbohydrates to remove fat. It also decreases your appetite to where you are not always hungry. This may seem strange to those of us who find breads and pastas filling. Eating ‘thick’ foods such as avocado and even eggs are sure to fill you up.

There is a Downside to this Diet as Well

As with any diet, you have to roll with the punches ’so to speak’. You have to just get out there and do something about your weight and your doctor will definitely be the one that you can go to. He is the one that will tell you about your body and what would be the best diet for you.

There are many ways that you can diet and it is totally up to you to which one that will best suit your body and your everyday life. There are downfalls in all diets and you won’t know unless you try it. Then there is that question; do I really want to try it? It takes time and dedication. Results don’t come over night. It depends on whether or not you want to go on the diet and give it a try or not. There are many ways that you can diet. Choosing the right one for you is totally up to you.

It is also recommended to exercise on a regular basis as well. There are ways that you can exercise to keep the ultimate fit. There are things that you can do to maintain your weight and find a balance in the Atkins diet, just like any other diets.
